Inside the Build: A Breakdown of What Goes Into Every Fine-Tuned

Updated: Jul 8, 2025

Every Fine-Tuned putter starts with one question: What does your stroke need?

We don’t build clubs for shelves, we build them for people. Every spec, every cut, every adjustment is made with purpose, to match how you aim, move and roll the ball.

Here’s a full breakdown of the elements we dial in during the fitting and build process and why they matter.

Head Design

The shape, contrast and alignment features of a putter head directly influence how you aim. Some shapes aim left. Others aim right. We find the one that points you straight at the target, without forcing a change to your stroke.

Whether it’s a mallet, blade, or something in between, we’re looking for visual clarity and natural aim bias that works with your eyes.

Hosel Configuration

The hosel (or neck) controls more than just looks. It influences:

  • Alignment at address

  • Toe hang

  • How the putter releases through the stroke

During your fitting, we identify the neck style that complements your natural tendencies, helping return the face to square without manipulation.

Length & Lie Angle

This is where setup meets comfort. Length and lie angle affect how your eyes track the line, how your hands set up and how efficiently you deliver the club through impact.

Too upright? You might miss left. Too flat? You could aim right or drag the toe.

We dial it in so you’re not adjusting to the putter, the putter is built around you.

Loft

Every Fine-Tuned putter is individually milled to match your ideal loft.

Loft affects:

  • Launch angle

  • Initial skid vs roll

  • Strike consistency

Too much loft and the ball hops. Too little and it dives. We make sure you get a pure, consistent roll based on your stroke dynamics.

Weighting

Tempo. Strike. Speed control. All of these are influenced by head weight and balance point.

We fine-tune the internal and external weighting to sync with your rhythm, helping you roll more putts on line and at the right pace without forcing the stroke.

Mill Pattern

Our face milling is all about functionality.

The mill pattern affects:

  • Energy transfer

  • Feel at impact

  • Feedback on off-center strikes

We match the mill pattern to your stroke and preferences, optimizing how the ball comes off the face and how it feels in your hands.

Grip

Grip size, shape and texture are all about connection.

We test what helps your hands relax, stabilize and stay consistent. It’s not just about comfort, it’s about feel, pressure and alignment. The right grip makes your putter feel like an extension of your body.

Customization

Once the performance specs are dialed in, it’s time to make it yours.

Every Fine-Tuned build is finished by hand in our New Zealand workshop. From paint fills to engravings, we turn your putter into something one of a kind, not just because it looks unique, but because it fits like nothing else.

What Does All of This Do?

Every piece, from the hosel to the grip, plays a role in your confidence. When every spec is dialed, you stop thinking about mechanics and start rolling putts like you were meant to.
